Tank container Maintenance & Repair (M&R) Manager Europe (permanent job) – Rotterdam


For our client, the world’s leading tank container lessor with a fleet of over 60,000 tanks,we are looking for a M&R Manager Europe. The M&R Manager Europe is responsible for the EU local fleet maintenance and repair process and applicable technical activities under the direction and guidance of the Operations Manager Europe.

Functional Responsibilities

  • The M&R Manager Europe will provide overall guidance and supervision to the M&R Technical Surveyor Europe
  • The M&R Manager Europe ensures that the technical and operational policies and procedures are effectively executed and administered by our depot structure
  • The M&R Manager Europe must be a team player with comprehensive tank container industry experience able to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, depots and partners


Main Tasks Responsibilities

  • Ensuring and evaluating costs effective M&R processes and contribute to an efficient estimate approval process
  • Continuous seeking for best practice and M&R process improvement
  • Managing and analyzing the entire modification equipment- and pricing process
  • Providing internal and external technical services & support to the day to day requirements of the region
  • Conduct regular depot quality audits to monitor depot’s activities, inspection, estimation, repair, cost control and to ensure depot’s performance adhering to requirements
  • Inspection and acceptance of new builds at factory and supplying HQ Fleet with observed technical improvement and innovation suggestions
  • Ensure industry standards are correctly applied by all tank container maintenance and repair depots and keep abreast of engineering developments within the tank container industry


Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum HND-education (Dutch equivalent HBO/HTS Bachelor level) or Technical / Engineering Degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of extensive technical knowledge and relevant work experience within the tank container industry, preferably gained at e.g. depot, inspection company or manufacturer of road barrel- and/or static pressure vessel manufacturer, tank container parts supplier, etc.
  • Chemical/Mechanical engineering work experience/training;
  • Experience with tank container related regulations
  • Application of 80:20 principle
  • Multilingual

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Effective communication including establishing credibility and trust with customers and employees, and building influential relationships with partners in the business
  • Understanding of the chemical- and tank container industry, including their drivers and success factors
  • Ability to coordinate activities at various levels within the company and with partners in the industry
  • Maintain professional relationships with depots and partners
  • Ability to identify performance expectations/requirements from our customer base to improve added value
  • Team player that can work independently and collaboratively
  • Initiative and results driven with creative and innovative skills
